Abstract:
This analytic review outlines the current state of simulations in teacher education and presents contemporary models, frameworks, guidelines, advantages and presents contemporary models, frameworks, guidelines, advantages and disadvantages of simulations in teacher education, and discusses the influence of technological advancement on simulations in teacher education. The perspective used is viewing the issue through a funnel, narrowing down as the investigation continues, is viewing the issue through a funnel, narrowing down as the investigation continues, going from simulations in professional spheres, human-based simulations, computer- based simulations, and on to mixed reality simulations and artificial intelligence simulations. This gradually focusing perspective redefines the term simulation, which originated in the worlds of medicine and military, and analyzes its intersections with the worlds of education, digitization, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, the review presents prominent, popular, accessible and advanced digital tools of simulations in teacher education, while emphasizing the pivotal role of debriefing in simulations in teacher education as a reflective and profound pedagogical process. Lastly, the review points out the added value of simulations in teacher education, with respect to lifelong learning, social emotional learning, communication skills, classroom management, and parent-teacher relationships.

Abstract:
English, as the global language, provides its speakers with occupational, academic, cultural, and social opportunities. However, for some populations in Israel, English is still a barrier to mobility, with notable differences in knowledge between high- and low- socioeconomic status populations. Since 2016, the Israeli Ministry of Education and other government offices have acknowledged the importance of having strong oral English skills, and have begun allocating resources to teaching. Additionally, private entrepreneurs are developing programs and technological tools, involving other stakeholders. The current review is an examination of the policy and pedagogy of teaching spoken English in Israel, with an emphasis on middle school students in the periphery, with a focus on the effectiveness of the practices and tools.
